Valerie's Story

Hello there my name's Valerie I'm 29 years old. I was born with a condition called cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus. ( although my hydo wasn't bad enough to require the placement of a shunt.) The doctors believe my cp was caused by my micro prematurity. (I was born at 23 weeks gestation.) My parents were told that If I was lucky enough to survive. I would be blind , severely mentally disabled and would never walk. I proved them all wrong. I can walk unassisted in my own home. Although I require a wheelchair for long distances. I am living a wonderful life and I do not let my don't let my disability define me.
